first look at the new tom ford women's collection

After a super-secretive showing at Fashion Week that allowed no press coverage, the first images of Tom Ford's new Women's line have finally been released. The December issue of American Vogue features four pages of the designer posing alongside his designs for S/S 11. In the interview that accompanies, Ford expresses an objection to the way that modern technology allows fashion images to be over-exposed before the clothes pictured can even be purchased. It has been six years since the designer left Gucci, the house that he reinvented and catapulted into the mainstream consciousness. Ford now designs for the customer who doesn't want to see a dress all over the red carpet before she can get her own hands on it. "My customer doesn't want to wear the same thing she saw on a starlet!," he explains in the interview. Ironically, Ford's personal aesthetic has never been more on-trend. As shown in the new spread, the YSL alum's style fits right in with the many 70s references that we observed at the S/S 11 shows.
